Nuveen Diversified Dividend & Income Fund (the Fund) is a diversified closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to provide high current income and total return by investing primarily in a portfolio of dividend-paying common stocks, securities issued by real estate investment trusts (REITs), debt securities and other non-equity instruments that are issued by, or that are related to, government, government-related and supernational issuers located, or conducting their business, in emerging market countries (emerging markets sovereign debt and foreign corporate bonds) and senior loans.
The Fund’s portfolio includes real estate investment trust common stocks, common stocks, emerging markets sovereign debt and foreign corporate bonds, variable-rate senior loan interests, corporate bonds, convertible bonds and short-term investments. It invests in various industries, including real estate, media, metals and mining, diversified telecommunication services, aerospace and defense, tobacco, household durables, containers and packaging, diversified financial services, thrifts and mortgage finance, commercial services and supplies, and oil, gas and consumable fuels. The Fund’s investment manager is Nuveen Asset Management. Nuveen Asset Management has entered into sub-advisory agreements with NWQ Investment Management Company, LLC, Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated, Symphony Asset Management, LLC and Wellington Management Company, LLP.
